Great (free) way of converting DVDs to MPEG4 (DivX, H264, etc). The latest version (0.9.3) can also take video files as input, as well as full DVDs.
Essential video editing tool. It's free, but for it to edit MPEG2 you need to buy the Apple Quicktime MPEG2 plug-in.
I use it primarily for editing ads out of video recorded from TV with EyeTV. It is frame-accurate, so produces much more precise than EyeTV's own built in editor.
It can also do conversion to DivX and other formats.
Best free text editor for MacOSX that I've found, but I still don't like it anything like as much as Textpad on Windows.
It does all the basics fairly well, but I find the search & replace functionality very confusing.
This is a great app. I use it as my filing system for all important information and PDF scans of paper documents like letters, bills, bank statements, etc.
It can also synchronise it's database between several Macs via MobileMe - I was never completely happy about how well that worked though. It seemed to struggle with a database as big as mine. So I just copy the database file between computers, and that works just as well.
Highly recommended.
Easy way of inserting GPS location details into your photos. Use Google Earth to identify the location, then drag the images onto Geotagger. Simple as that.
Best free FTP client for the Mac that I have found. It can also edit a file on the server by downloading it, allow local editing, then automatically upload it again when you save it.
Really useful, simple (and free) image editing tool. It also has a seamless connection to the skitch.com image sharing service.
My only complaint is that I can't find a way to get it to alter the image aspect ratio - it insists on keeping it the same.
Plays almost any video format you can find, and can also do conversion and streaming. A really useful tool, although the user interface is a bit peculiar.
